The blood cold chain is a systematic process for the safe storage and transportation of blood from its collection from the donor to its administration to a patient who requires transfusion.
It is referred to as a "cold chain" because blood, being a biological substance, must be kept cold to reduce bacterial contamination and prolong its life.
This course will cover the management of whole blood donors who present too early for their whole blood donations.
